Webflow vs WordPress: which should you choose?

Pick Webflow for a custom marketing or service site that your team can edit without worrying about plugins and updates. Pick WordPress for large stores, membership sites or anything that depends on a particular plugin. Google doesn't prefer either one.

SEO

Neither ranks better by default. Webflow has titles, descriptions, sitemaps, redirects, canonicals and clean HTML built in. WordPress gets to the same place with plugins like Yoast or Rank Math, and gives you more control at the server level if you need it.

Speed and upkeep

Webflow runs on managed hosting with a CDN, and there are no plugin or core updates to run. WordPress can be just as fast on good hosting with a lean theme, but someone has to keep it updated and secure.

When WordPress wins

Large catalogues, memberships, communities, multilingual publishing at scale, or a plugin you can't live without. Also if you want your own hosting and have someone in house to look after it. I build in Webflow, so if WordPress is the better fit I'll say so.

Questions

Can I move from WordPress to Webflow without losing rankings?

Yes, if the move is planned. Keep the URLs where you can, set 301 redirects for the rest, move the metadata, and watch Search Console after launch.

Is Webflow good for ecommerce?

For small and mid-sized catalogues, yes. Big stores usually do better on Shopify.

Do you build in WordPress?

No. I build in Webflow, and I fix Shopify stores.
